Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for Colombia ace James Rodriguez. The Real Madrid man is keen on leaving the club this summer with a number of clubs reportedly interested in his services.
Rodríguez had spent the past two seasons at German club Bayern Munich and his performances had been decent for the club. However, Bayern Munich have decided not to take the option to sign the player permanently which means that he would have to return to his parent club.
James is a solid player and is valued at around £40 million by Liverpool. This transfer is one that makes sense for the Reds. The club has lacked a creative player in since the departure of Phillipe Coutinho some seasons back.
Their current options of Naby Keita and Xhaqiri are not bonafide star players like Rodriguez. Rodriguez is considered to be among the elite class of attacking midfielders and Liverpool would be an excellent option for the player.
Napoli are thought to be in negotiations with Real Madrid over a loan deal with an option to buy as they seek to reunite the player with manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid are looking to sell a lot of players in the off window and Rodriguez is one of the major names likely to leave the club. Rodriguez is said to be baffled at the treatment from the club which is similar to what happened to club legend Iker Casillas some few seasons back.
Rodriguez has not yet spoken about his preferred club but Liverpool has a greater lure than Napoli.
Liverpool have a near perfect squad and Jurgen Klopp has already appealed to the club to spend more cash to maintain their current success.
