The former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has said that he will certainly welcome the possibility of the Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder moving to the Turkish club Fenerbahce in the January transfer window. The Dutch midfielder has been linked with various clubs over the last few months after falling out of favour with the Italian club over the contract situation. Sneijder is one of the highest earning players at the club, who are currently struggling with a lot of financial difficulties. However, the player’s unwillingness to take a wage cut has been met with contempt by the Italian club, who have removed him from the first team.
It is widely expected that he would be sold during January because he has only two years left on his current contract. Manchester United and Bayern Munich were linked with the player, but the Turkish club Fenerbahce have emerged as the surprise candidates in the last few days. Kuyt, who moved to the club for £ 1 million in the summer, recently said that he would be happy to bring in a few other players from the Dutch international team if the club was interested. He is now determined to use his personal relationship with Sneijder to make the deal possible.
“I speak to him [Sneijder] often and I think he has been affected by what I told him and he is fond of Fenerbahçe. We know that Sneijder is an expensive player and there are other clubs that want him too. I did not ask whether he will come here but I know there are people that wonder about him in Turkey. The transfer would be wonderful from our point of view. He has to make a decision and believe me, even I don’t know what he’s thinking right now,” said Kuyt.

The Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt has said that he is extremely confident that Fenerbahce will get the right result against Galatasaray when the two archrivals come together in a meeting. The rivalry between the Turkish club’s Fenerbahce and Galatasaray is extremely famous. The former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt will be part of this rivalry for the first time because he recently completed his move to the Turkish club. Ahead of this match, the 31-year-old has said that he is someone who has a wealth of experience of playing in such big matches due to his experiences in England and Netherlands.
When he was a Feyenoord player, Dirk Kuyt has recalled how the matches against Ajax were extremely intense. He has also said that he experienced the same when he was playing for Liverpool due to their derbies with Merseyside club Everton. Kuyt has a good record of scoring in the derby matches. He scored against Ajax in his last five matches for Feyenoord, while he has also scored against Everton while playing for Liverpool. He completed his £ 1 million move to Turkish club in the summer, while also saying that he expects a number of high-profile Dutch players like Robin van Persie to join him in the future.
“I’m used to big derbies, I played in the Liverpool derby against Everton and the Liverpool-Manchester United derby as well as the Ajax-Feyenord derby in the Netherlands. I’ve scored in a few derbies, when I was at Feyenoord I scored in my last five games against Ajax. It was an incredible feeling to score for Liverpool against Everton. I love these big games, the only thought we have going into these matches is to win,” said the 31-year-old. He has been extremely good for Galatasaray so far by giving six assists and 11 goals.
The former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has said that he decided to leave Anfield in the summer after growing frustrated about the lack of first-team opportunities especially in the last few months of the campaign. Dirk Kuyt finally brought an end to his six year spell at the club after sealing his £ 1 million move to the Turkish club Fenerbache. He has now said that he was not selected on a regular basis by the former manager Kenny Dalglish, while the Liverpool legend was also treating him in the unjust manner possible. This meant that he could not stay at the club any longer despite the exit of the manager.
Even the arrival of the former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers to replace Kenny Dalglish did not help matters, as Fenerbache made a £ 1 million bid that was accepted by the Merseyside club. The 31-year-old may have just one major trophy to his credit with Liverpool during his six years with the club, but he is fondly remembered for his excellent work rate. Signed by the former manager Rafael Benitez, he was converted into a right winger from the striker’s position. Liverpool are now struggling with not any recognised striker’s other than Luis Suarez due to injury for Fabio Borini.
“It was hard. The last season wasn’t as I had expected it. I wanted to be more involved. The season before, I was the team’s top scorer and the player with the most assists, but new players came in and my time on the pitch was less than expected. You can see the team needs a little more time. Hopefully the supporters and everyone gives them a bit of time because Brendan is a great coach,” said the 32-year-old. He has signed a three-year contract with the Turkish club.
