KUYT: BELLAMY IS UNBELIEVABLE

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has said that Craig Bellamy has become unbelievable for Liverpool in recent weeks. Craig Bellamy was signed on a free transfer from Manchester City in the summer, but few would have realised that he would have become the most important player at Liverpool as of now. Injuries to the likes of Steven Gerrard and the poor form of Andy Carroll has meant that Craig Bellamy has risen in prominence of late. Further, the suspension of Luis Suarez has meant that Craig Bellamy has been one of the main players at Liverpool this season, despite having a number of injury problems of his own.

The 31-year-old Dirk Kuyt has said that Craig Bellamy has been one of the best players at Liverpool this season and none would have believed that he would be of such an impact at Anfield. This is the second spell at Anfield for Craig Bellamy, and Dirk Kuyt has said that the Welshman has been even better than in his first spell. Craig Bellamy is coming to the end of his career, but still has not lost the goal threat. He still remains as one of the fastest players within the Liverpool squad. Hence, it is not surprising to know that he has scored nine goals in 23 matches for Liverpool.

“Craig has been unbelievable. He came late in August and we did not pay a transfer fee. He has been a brilliant signing for us and looks even better now than he did the first time he came here. It’s not very often you can say that about a player who plays for a club in two spells,” the 31-year-old told the LFC magazine. Dirk Kuyt was speaking on the occasion after having scored his 50th goal of his Liverpool career.

LIVERPOOL LOOKING TO SELL?

It has been reported that Liverpool are willing to sell Dirk Kuyt in order to raise funds for new signings in the January transfer window. Dirk Kuyt has been one of the first-team regulars since arriving at Anfield in 2006 from Dutch football.

However, he has been extremely poor in front of goal during these years, which has meant that he has been largely employed as a right-winger. Kenny Dalglish recently tried to shift him back to the striker’s position in the match against Stoke city, but Dirk Kuyt could not deliver the returns in this match as well. Hence, there have been rumours that Dirk Kuyt could be sold in this transfer window in order to fund a move for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.

It is thought that the striker would cost around £ 12 million. Even though the 31-year-old Dirk Kuyt is certainly not going to fund the entire amount, it is thought that Liverpool to have some finances arriving from the owner John Henry for the signing. Even if Dirk Kuyt decides to leave Liverpool in this transfer window or in the summer, he will definitely not find any shortage of takers given that he is one of the hard-working members of the team.

As well as selling Dirk Kuyt, Liverpool could also raise the money by permanently selling Joe Cole to the French champions Lille. Joe Cole has impressed a lot during the first half season with Lille. It is thought that the French club would be interested in negotiating a deal with the Merseyside club. The only stumbling block in the deal could be the wages of Joe Cole, which is in the region of £ 120,000 per week. Hence, the deal may not fully rest on the clubs, but on the part of Joe Cole.

Kuyt: We Deserved Better

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt believes that his side did not deserve to be on the losing side in the match against Fulham at Craven Cottage and said that they might live to rue the missed chances as they missed out on closing the gap on the top four and enter into the UEFA Champions League qualification spot.

The loss to Fulham meant that they lost their 11 match unbeaten run in all competitions and Kuyt feels that it might affect the momentum that they were in. the 11 match run included the draw at home against league leaders and high flyers Manchester City in a match they completely dominated and should have won probably. He also said that luck was not on their side against Fulham as several decisions went against them during the match and this included the sending off of young midfielder Jay Spearing.

Dirk Kuyt also believes that all is not lost, however, and there is still every chance that Liverpool will finish in the top 4 and be in the UEFA Champions League next season. The club has been starving of European action for the last two three years now and according to Kuyt, for a club of Liverpool’s standing, they do not deserve to be not playing in Europe each and every season.

However, Kuyt feels that his side will show the strength of character by bouncing right back against Queens Park Rangers who come to play at Anfield on Saturday and a win against the newly promoted side will put Liverpool back in contention for the fourth and final spot in the UEFA Champions League. Dirk Kuyt also feels that the side has now settled and in a couple of year’s time, it will challenge the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea for the title regularly.
